Windows

Microsoft Windows also referred to simply as Windows, is an Operating System developed and marketed by Microsoft. This group of OS families had its beginning in 1985 with the launch of Windows. Since then, the company has launched multiple versions of the OS, Windows 11 being the latest iteration. Windows has been available for not only Personal Computers but also tablet PCs and other smart devices. There is also a version tailored for servers: Microsoft Windows Server. Microsoft Windows is a closed-source program and is not available for free. It means a customer has to pay to use this OS on their computer, often included in the price of the computer. However, Microsoft Windows is also available for individual purchases.

Despite being proprietary, Microsoft Windows has become a buzzword in the world of computing. It is widely used for personal and professional purposes, and the numbers have only been rising in the past years. With the launch of Windows 10 and Windows 11, Microsoft also introduced some UI-based changes, making the OS more modern and intuitive. Windows 11, in particular, introduced cross-platform compatibility, such as the ability to run Android apps on Windows.
